PROJECT
INUMERÁVEIS —
Daily COVID counts were numbing Brazil while denial thrived. Project 'Inumeráveis' turned statistics into stories, publishing the life stories behind victims so that the country would remember people, not numbers. Each story was vetted by hundreds of trained volunteers, building a living public memorial and a humane script for newsrooms. In a nation that became the world’s second-highest COVID epicenter, 1 in 36 Brazilians were grieving—we had to reframe how loss was told.
We partnered with publishers to take these stories mainstream—amplified by 125+ Brazilian celebrities and opinion leaders—and featured across the country’s major media. It changed how loss was told on air. Now, the movement is stepping off the screen: we’re negotiating with São Paulo to build a physical memorial, backed by the Secretary of Culture so names and lives endure both online and in the city—lasting and shared for generations, in neighborhoods and national memory.
